Image
As I stand there, I see Spider man swinging his web to my front. I turn to my right and see The Joker doing his trademark sinister laugh, I look left and notice the gang from Scooby doo chasing after a ghost, and then it finally takes me a good moment to re-confirm the fact that I am not inside a fictional Cartoon, but actually standing at a Comic con event, taking place in Karachi.  Comic Con is a short for Comic Convention, an event where people from various fandoms dress up as their favorite Video game, movie, Anime and Cartoon Characters and emulate them into reality. Each time I visited such events, the takeaways have been absolutely Bizarre, Unforgettable and Astonishing, to say the least  In these Events, Cosplayers from all over the city wear unique and interesting costumes of popular video game and anime characters, and while pretending to be these characters, they pose on stage, Infront of the cheering crowd, much like in a fashion show. On most occasions, this show...

Just like a luxurious and Beautiful building, if left abandoned for a long time, ends up becoming a place that is believed to be haunted, uninviting and repulsive, the same can be said about the unfortunate current situation of the Worlds biggest Hockey Stadium in Lahore, which is now, only a shell of its former glorious self, due to substantial negligence by the authorities. To have something of such prestige, tradition and value be reduced to such a sad and pitiful state is just a small example of the much bigger problem, which is the constant decline of the Sports industry in Pakistan.  There was once a time, when this National Hockey stadium and Qaddafi Cricket stadium in Lahore, The National Stadium in Karachi and the Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad, among many others were buzzing with activity and passionate fans who used to turn up frequently to every national and international sporting events that were held there. But as time passed, the fi...

The Unsung Champion

If I had told my parents 20 years ago that I could one day win World Championships and achieve Worldwide recognition and respect by doing nothing but simply playing my favorite  video games from the comfort of my room, they would naturally call it outright nonsense, but what if I tell you that in the modern day and age, doing that has not only become a possibility, but is even a reality in the case of 26 year old Arsalan Siddique  from Lahore .  The Cliché saying `` Dreams do come true `` is often used as a superficial term of encouragement, where in actuality, only a very few and rare people live to accomplish that goal. A goal that is self taught, self discovered and clinched through years of self belief and hard work, all the while defying countless odds and leaping over numerous obstacles along the way. When put into perspective, a scenario like this almost feels like something out of a fairy tale, but that fits as the only ideal description for the kind of...
